Young amateurs Mitch Waite and Jacob Oakley have turned professional and signed with International Sports Management.

Bristol-born Mitch, 23, has enjoyed an outstanding year, finishing runner up at both the Lytham Trophy and European Amateur and a semi-final place at the British Amateur.

Mitch represented GB and Ireland in the St Andrews Trophy and played for England as they were beaten in the final of the European Men’s Team Championships, as well as featuring at the Eisenhower Trophy and the Home Internationals.

Cheshire youngster Jacob, 20, who turns pro off plus three, equalled the course record at Formby earlier this year.

ISM is a globally-renowned management company whose current clients include former Open champions Darren Clarke and Louis Oosthuizen and four-time European Tour winner Matt Wallace.

Chief Executive Officer Chubby Chandler said:“I always find it fun when two lads start their career, and these are two more good lads joining ISM.

“It will be great to see how Mitch and Jacob fare over the next 12 months, with Mitch playing a mixture of European Tour, Challenge Tour and more on invites and Jacob going to Alps Tour and MENA Tour Q School.

“I’m expecting them both to turn out to be really good players and it will be great to follow their progress.”

Mitch Waite said:“Turning pro wasn’t a decision I took lightly because I had a good year set up for me as an amateur, but I’ve spoken to a lot of people about it and I’m just looking forward to getting started now and seeing how I go. If I can play like I have been, it will take care of itself.

“I’ve spent a lot of time with the ISM team recently and I’m impressed with how they work and Chubby has got so much experience to help me with. I’m just excited to see what the next few years bring. Hopefully I’ll get some opportunities for some starts, get some good results and build from there.”

Jacob Oakley said:“I feel like my game is ready to turn professional and I want to start learning at a better level. I’m really excited to be part of a successful team like ISM and hopefully I can carry on and form a good partnership long term.

“I’m playing Alps Tour Q school and hopefully I can get my full card and progress because that and the MENA Tour can be a great springboard for your career and can get me where I want to go.”
